Cambridge A-level is an examination body with the government’s approval. This programme was first introduced in the December 2013 in Nigeria. The programme witnessed a restructuring in April 2014 when about ten Universities partnered together with the premier university- University of Ibadan spearheading the restructuring. It might interest you to know that this prograamme is being moderated by Cambridge University, United Kingdom Also, Cambridge A’ level programme has its own scoring system as other direct entry programmes. For Cambridge A’ level, your graded on the total of 16 points and you are required to get a minimum of 5 points.

International University Foundation Programmes has established partnership with various tertiary institutions which in turn guarantees you furtherance to any of those partnered tertiary institution provide you meet all available requirements. Some of the requirements include having enough grade i.e. meeting the minimum grade requirement before furtherance cold be granted.



Applicants for Cambridge A ‘levels are required to choose any three A level Cambridge Subjects combination as related to their potential course of study. Also, you are required to general subject- English language to go with the subject combination.

Furthermore, Candidates are then being taken through extensive teaching and tutoring for a specific period of time in selected approved Cambridge A’ level study centers. At the final stages of the extensive lectures, candidates are then subjected to an examination which you are expected to pass. While IUFP, applicants who are willing to try out the International University Foundation Programmes, first, you need to register for IELTS. IELTS is basically an English Proficiency test where your level of understanding, fluency and writing of English language is being tested. It is a certification needed as a support to International University Foundation Programmes.

You need a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 for applicants of International University Foundation Programmes who are international students wishing to study a foundation course Please note, any IELTS with score below 4.5 is not acceptable





To be eligible for this Cambridge A’level, prospective applicants must possess a minimum of 5 credit passes across relevant subject as applicable to their course of study.  Students with awaiting result are also eligible for this programme. This programme is offered all relevant field-science, arts and the social sciences.


While for IUFP, Candidates are to have the following

  • Minimum IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent
  • Higher Secondary transcripts
  • Reference letter from your high school teacher
  • Personal statement
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate
  • Scanned copy of passport and visa
  • Completed application form
  • You must have completed all secondary and primary education
  • Basic language proficiency depending on the requirements in the country of choice.


CAMRIDGE VS IUFP: Aim Of Both Programmes

Cambridge A ‘level is specifically designed for student who are unable to gain admission into regular degree programmes in Nigeria. He programme is specifically designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programmes in Nigerian Universities for various reasons as it is applicable.

IUFP on the other hand was designed for unsuccessful applicants of Ryerson who were not selected for undergraduate studies. International University Foundation Programmes provides students with the opportunity to join the Ryerson community and enjoy success in their studies with continued support.  Also, International University Foundation Programmes

was also designed for students who wants to study in an international university but do not meet the minimum qualification to be admitted.
