WHAT IS NABTEB
Just like Cambridge, IJMB and the rest, NABTEB is simply a technical and business examination body set up by the federal government of Nigeria in 1992. Technical and business examinations before the inception of NABTEB had always been the responsibility of WAEC but to ease this problem, NABTEB was introduced.
Generally, NABTEB is known for her O’level examination but it may interest you to know that NABTEB also run A ‘level programmes. Consequently, for the purpose of this article, I will be discussing about NABTEB A-level programme; Advanced National Business Certificate and Advanced National Technical Certificate.
Also, it is important to note that both NABTEB’s Advanced National Business Certificate and Advanced National Technical Certificate are rated alongside certificates like Ordinary National Diploma (OND), National Certificate Of Education (NCE), Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) and Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB).
WHY WAS NABTEB INTRODUCED
Usually, NABTEB is popularly known for its O’level examination but in this article, we will be talking extensively about NABTEB A’level programme.
NABTEB A ‘level was introduced for one clear purpose- to cater for students who wish to secure admission into their preferred university but without going through the stress of sitting for JAMB examination.
SIGNIFICANCE OF NABTEB A-LEVEL PROGRAMMES
Because of lack of popularity, many are of the opinion that NABTEB has no significance at any level. Well, I understand that lack of adequate information might have led to you weightless conclusion. That being said, I will be explaining the significance of NABTEB and how it can facilitate your admission into 200L in your preferred institution.
With any of the NABTEB A-Level programme, you are getting more than you paid for i.e. you are getting value for your money. Why? This is because as a successful NABTEB A-level applicant, you are automatically seen as a technician graduate. With this alone, you are qualified to get employed directly into any junior-level position otherwise known as level 5 across technical areas.
Also, with any of the NABTEB A ‘level certificates, you are avail with the opportunity to further gain admission into any of your preferred tertiary institution so far they accept NABTEB A ‘level as an entry requirement. NABTEB A ‘level certificate is accepted widely across specified university or institution in Nigeria. Another perk to the NABTEB A’evel prgramme is that you are automatically admitted into 200L in your proffered institution.
NOTE: Only business or technical related courses are can be processed using the NABTEB A ‘level certificate. These course ranges from Accounting, Banking & finance, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Financial management courses and so on
REQUIREMENTS FOR NABTEB A’LEVEL PROGRAMME
As for every other A ‘level programme, O’level or SSCE result is a key requirement as such, NABTEB A ‘level prgramme is not exception. To apply for NABTEB A ‘level programme, you have to possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in your O’level.
Also note that General Certificate of Education(GCE) as well as students with awaiting results can also apply.

VALIDITY OF NABTEB A’LEVEL PROGRAMME
If you are wondering how many years could this NABTEB A ‘level be valid well, the answer is simple. NABTEB does not have any validity period. It does not expire unlike JAMB that is yearly. One you have your NABTEB A ‘level certificate, it becomes yours for the foreseeable future. It can still be used to process job offers and admission.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT USING NABTEB A’LEVEL FOR DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSIONS
After your NABTEB A ‘level certification, for those who wants to seek admission into 200l using NABTEB A ‘level, you have to take JAMB direct entry form either from JAMB website or at any JAMB authorized center nearest to you. Follow through as documents needed or required will be communicated to you at the point of JAMB direct entry form. Afterwards, screening exercise would be conducted by your preferred institution. Information as regard that would be communicated to you through your institution
WHAT’S THE TIMEFRAME FOR NABTEB A’ LEVEL?
Usually, this programme takes within 8 months to 10 months maximum. It is usually a one session certification divided into two semesters
INSTITUTION THAT ACCEPTS NABTEB
NABTEB is not an entry requirement for some universities and as such, you have to make due research as regards if your preferred institution accepts NABTEB. Primarily, about 75 percent of the total universities we have in Nigeria accepts NABTEB as entry requirement. Below is the breakdown of how much NABTEB cost:
Application – #15,000
Accomodation fee – #30,000 ( this is optional)
Tuition fees + Examination Fee – #70,000.
Total – #115,000
